A FEW THOUGHTS ON THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION  AND THE COMING ELECTION

I read a recent post where people were surmising about why some believed an angel spared Trump’s life but not the lives of others at the rally. And I’ve seen other posts where there just seems to be a hyper-spiritualization of all things to do with Trump and the assassination attempt and the coming election. For example, Christians are now talking about how Trump’s right ear, where the bullet grazed him and drew blood, represents the ear of the high priest. The assasination attempt, though very telling and significant, is trending everywhere with opinions. Some are of the opinion that we have made an idol out of Trump and become nationalists and how the Lord can’t bless that.

The angel thing is not that complicated. Why was the angel sent to spare Peter’s life in prison but not James? Because the church was praying for Peter. Many are praying for President Trump. Thus his life was spared, and the Lord is doing a work in him. He has been humbled and filled with gratitude. It will be interesting to see if and how his demeanor changes from here on. That is what I am watching, because personally I believe the last election was stolen, and one looming reason it was is because not enough repentance and humility was found by God in President Trump’s heart. That’s my personal perception and not “thus saith the Lord”. Perhaps that is even an over-spiritualization on my part.

I believe we tend to over-spiritualize  alot of things. Some pastors say they cannot vote for Trump because of his mouth and bully temperament. I have friends who tell me they just can’t vote for him, not only because of his hot tempered ways, but because he is still a proponent of abortion, though not post term and full blown. He is also pro-gay marriage. But we have to understand that most political candidates are unregenerate men, and to expect them to fulfill the requirements of Exodus 18:21 perfectly, as some men preach, is just unreasonable. Besides, these requirements were written for elders in Israel, a spiritual entity. I do believe,  however, that the Church should vote righteously.

Some have the conviction to vote a certain way or for a certain candidate according to the aforementioned scripture, but God sees the heart. The heart of the king or president is in His hand and He turns it whichever way He desires. That is Scripture, too (Proverbs 21:1). I believe it’s evident that Biden’s heart is turned toward evil, but Trump’s heart is being moved toward righteousness. Don’t forget, if my memory serves me correctly, Trump was the one in office when Roe vs Wade was overturned. It could be that he would finish overturning that decision with a second term. God sees his heart.

Let’s not expect him to quite yet be acting like a sanctified pastor or spiritual leader. He is not a pastor or even a politician. He is a businessman outside of the establishment, and did many great things for the country in his first term. America was respected in the nations when he served in office. But we can’t expect perfection.

Let’s not over-spiritualize this election, but let’s sincerely pray and choose wisely and vote righteously according to your conscience. Undoubtedly, this is a huge election of gigantic proportions.

It’s not a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils either. It’s a matter of seeing and knowing where God is working.

May the Lord fill us all with the  knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Bert Farias' books are forerunners to personal holiness, the move of God and the return of the Lord. They also combat the departure from the faith and the turning away from the truth we are seeing in our day. His recent five-book bundle, written under a fresh anointing, is a forerunner of what the Lord is doing in His church today. His newest release, Turning Your Trials Into Gold (https://www.holy-fire.org/books) is a powerful testimony of how God raised up Bert and his wife Carolyn from a sick bed  and near death.
