We are never sure what we will minister on until the Spirit of God really quickens us. In 2013 the Lord gave us a strategic and purposeful way He wanted us to minister.
THE MOVE THE MESSAGE THE MINISTRY
He said it was no longer just about preaching a message, but it was to be about the move first and how the Spirit of God wanted to manifest Himself.
His instructions to us were to stay prayed up and filled up and then He would lead us. No two services or meetings are exactly the same. It’s so exciting and beautiful to us to go in with great expectation, not fully knowing what is going to happen, but putting our trust in Him.
At times it’s like the wind and fire in Acts 2. Suddenly…
Notice this verse when Jesus draws an analogy between the wind and being born again:
“…The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8) This is how Jesus des
cribes the new birth. Imagine the baptism with the Holy Spirit! More wind. If the new birth is a windy day in March, then being filled with the Spirit is a hurricane or a tornado in August. More spontaneity and power. In the book of Acts when people were initially baptized or filled with the Spirit they not only spoke in tongues but they often prophesied and magnified the Lord.
“For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.” (Acts 10:46) “And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)
We love to preach and teach the Word of God and everyone’s calling, anointing, and flow in the ministry of the Word is uniquely different. But since 2013 for us, it’s about the utterance, and speaking as an oracle of God versus just talking.
“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power…” (1 Corinthians 2:4) We try and do our best to yield to the Spirit and minister the way the Lord instructed us. It’s not always perfect and at times we miss it, but there’s never a dull moment, because you never know which way the wind is going to blow. It’s never boring when you’re looking to Him and not trusting in your own wisdom.
When it comes to preaching and teaching, Carolyn is generally short winded, but my challenge is not what to preach but what not to preach. Haha! My spirit is normally always very active, because my life is given to the Word and prayer. Many ministers have many talents, but I only have one, and I try and devote my life to that one thing.
The mistake I often make is trying to hit a home run in every meeting. But I’ve learned that sometimes you just need to hit a single or a double and just get on base. I trust you know what I mean by that. Don’t try to do everything in one meeting, but find God’s design and purpose each time we gather and assemble.
Anyway, speaking of being long winded, it’s time to stop. If you’ve read this far, thank you for completing my joy. My joy is to see every believer manifesting Christ in spirit and truth, however the Lord has endowed you. Everyone is busy but not everyone is hungry. Ask the Lord to create a holy hunger in you for the Word and Spirit.
Thank you for your readership and hunger for the wisdom and power of God. I love you all so very much and long for each of you to fulfill all the will of God for your life.
We are fellow workers and partners to increase your joy also (2 Cor. 1:24). Stay in touch.
