THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD

Sometimes early in the morning I

just stare at my stack of published books.

Then I reflect at how this is even possible.

My reflection always takes me to that short conversational prayer I had with the Lord back in the winter of 2002 during a long extended season of prayer and fasting.

“Writing is your life’s greatest work.”

“But, Lord, how is that possible? I’m a nobody. I don’t have any kind of platform. I’m not on TV. Who is going to read my books?

His response was short like it usually is unless I inquire more.

“I. Have. A. People.”

Hmmm…

So, I made a pact with Him. I found out He actually likes pacts.

“Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.” (Is. 43:26)

After negotiating with Him, yes…you heard that right! Negotiating with God. Sounds pretty arrogant, doesn’t it? But it’s actually what I love most about Him, and what differentiates Him from all other dictatorial gods and religious tyrannical potentates. He is my Father but He is also my Employer. I have a love relationship with Him. But I also have a working relationship, too.

He met His end of the deal. In fact, far exceeded it!

Do you understand what a commitment this was, and why I had to plead my case with the Lord? If I was missing it, like we all do at some point in our walk with God… if I was not hearing Him accurately…and just made a hap-hazard presumption based on God’s good graces, then I could very well waste the rest of my life building in vain. So I had to make doubly sure I was being led by Him and not some fancy whim.

What I did was ask Him to prove His word to me. Back then before self-publishing became so popular, it was quite expensive to go with a professional publishing company. I didn’t have that kind of money. I had already published one book at the request of some ministry friends who heard a conference message I preached and agreed that it should be a book (that’s the green book on top of that stack).

Before the days of the KDP print-on-demand Amazon services, it cost me a whopping 15k to purchase 5,000 of those books at cost from this reputable company. Boy, did I learn some early hard publishing lessons! But I digress…

Let’s just say, because I write so much, I was made for print-on-demand services. And let me just say that I don’t try to write. It just comes to me. I’ve never had more grace, faith, and joy than to write. And actually, this verse that I discovered only recently, gave me even more faith to write:

“Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and SCRIBES… (Matthew 23:34)

Not only that, but I discovered from the Word and by experience, that some scribes are liars even though they claim they are wise and many are deceived by their writings.

“‘You keep saying, “We have the Lord’s teachings. So we are wise!” But this is not true, because the scribes have lied with their pens.” (Jeremiah 8:8)

Wow! What a verse! Lied with their PENS!!!

I’m saying all these things because a new fresh anointing to write has fallen on me again. Some of you may remember the 5-book bundle I published after coming out of a time of severe suffering. Although close friends testified of the greater glory on those books from my previous writings, those books have not done so well, because I published them too close to one another. I mean, who writes and publishes 5 books in one year without the anointing to do so? That would be quite a grind! But writing these 5 books was a groove. But I made the mistake of not allowing for time to market them and promote them. But they are still there on Amazon for the taking. The Lord said they were forerunners for the move of God that is still to come.

But guess what? Since this new wave of faith and grace to write has come on me again, I’ve gotten a little smarter. I got a precious group of selfless, eager readers to help me launch this next one, called, TONGUES: THE ELEVATION OF A MYSTERY.

But guess what? I’ve already written the sequel to it and haven’t even published this one yet. In about two weeks it should launch.

And guess what? There are several others coming up behind that one that are being written as I speak.

Listen, I’m not boasting in myself. I’m magnifying His amazing grace! I’m not a great writer, talent-wise, compared to many other authors. But I do know one thing, the Lord has called me and sent me as one of His scribes in these last days. And for that, I’m truly grateful. It is part of God’s great plan for my life.

If you’ve read this far, thank you for your time today. And I really appreciate your love and support. Remember this: The pen is mightier than the sword.
